I like the movement of neo shifter joints. You could stick one of those in there. They have been discontinued though so finding them will be a little difficult. Buy them online, or you might find them still at toys r us either with legos or clearance sections.

Where to cut/drill? I have no clue. I really like mine so much that I'm afraid to mess with it.
    best of luck friend!

Not sure what ball joint you would need, but before you cut anything, I would unscrew the head to see what you are working with.

I'd like to add a ball joint myself.

    Heres what i did.

1: Order a Pair of Ball Joints
2: Ripped the Guts out from Starscream, JUST KNOW that in order to give him a articulated neck/Head, This will disable the Electronics, So if you do this just know that.
Also, the head wont fit in the Transformation. (The way i Did It.)
3: Used a piece of junker plastic a platform for the base of the balljoint and super glued the 2 into the chest of Scream.

to be honest, its REALLY hard to explain this, with my project, it was ALL done Blindfolded and unsure. I pretty much banked on messing up and Destroying the fig (If i didnt already) So, its hard to give any tips on this mod. What i can give you is, DO LOTS OF RESEARCH and talk to alot of customizes that have done that Fig before. Ask MechaFacture.
Here Below i posted some pics of my Scream.

    Good Luck.

His head is a real pain in the ass to put back together once taken apart. The wires have to fit in right or they can get pinched or even tear off. I would just adhere a small socket to his neck base (any activator tf will do (use their arm sockets).

Then just take one of their ball joints too and adhere the socket to SS's neck, then pop in the ball joint. You could then drill a small hole into the top of SS's chest area and then finish sand it to fit the ball joint peg so that you can basically 'plug in' SS's head. It's removable for transformation and on a ball joint.

think you guys I actually found a scrapper gundam and used the ball and socket from him it worked perfect as for the gutting screamer it was a rather challenging process but in the end it turned out great.
