I got my first tattoo finally about 10 days ago (meaning it's 100% cured now!) it's a camargue cross (http://symboldictionary.net/?p=2288) and I got in on my left bicep in honor of my mom. It's about 5 inches tall, and to my surprise...did not hurt 1 bit. Katie got the same cross on her left wrist, smaller. A great client and friend of mine (Justin from Florida) came up here to PA and we took the ride to see him. Absolutely love it. I am so happy w/ it, I plan to get lots more work done to that shoulder/upper arm next time I see him.

here's a pic, I know it's pretty simple, and most (actually everyone) has no idea what it's symbolic of, but that's ok. means a lot to me. From here, I intend to work outwards, gonna frame/shade around it, do some crazy shit all around to my chest then down my arm.

Funny I just started as a 40 year old apprentice. Luckily I am avoiding all the B.S. gopher work that comes with normal apprenticeships and I hate to admit it, but I love it more than Customizing! Apparently since I am older, I have outgrown all the B.S. head games that a lot of guys coming into the field have, like they are rock stars who think that just because they have some skills, they should be making the big money. ME, I just want to find something I can actually do and not be too terribly affected by my head injury. I've had my art used in dozens of tattoos so I started listening to people and decided to learn how to do it from a pro. Cousin has been slinging ink professionally for over 35 years and if I wasn't a family member, he would not even bother. He hates the idea of teaching someone to do his job, but since I am the only person that puts up with his B.S., he likes having me around. So I get to avoid the crap part of the job and just shadow him and watch everything he does and how he sets up and what he uses when and why. Like going back to school, but it's fun and gets me out of the house for a few hours a day. Posted a photo of my most recent addition to my slowly growing collection of Tattoos, and YES it is SUPPOSED to look like that, hence me adding a photo of the original artwork for reference. The artist's name is Derek Hess and he is a local Artist here in Cleveland who does work for Album covers and Concert Posters and his work is incredible! I like this piece the best because it clearly represents what I go through on a daily basis. Arte I'd definitely like to have a piece done by you brother, you work is awe inspiring! If I am ever in your neck of the woods I will have to look you up! Great thread!

That looks really clean bro,I know its simple in design but what matters is that you are happy with it. Sounds like you already have plans for adding to that piece. Theres alot that can be done around that piece and you plan on taking that to the chest? Sweet,I love looking at tattoo work from other artist and I cant wait to see what you come up with. Also the fact that your girl got the same piece makes that piece even better!

Thats a sweet piece bro,I dig the concept. I know what you mean about big heads.lol I have worked with fools like that in the past and I just let my work speak for itself. I let them drown in their own arrogance and dont even offer a life saver.hahaha..Apprenticeing is something that I have never done before but I currently have an apprentice and I would never treat her with disrespect or make her do BS tasks. However there are some people I know that have had apprentices an do treat them like crap. It looks like you have a lucky break in this industry and I hope you continue with your apprenticeship, the tattoo industry is awesome and has much to offer. I have been doing this for over half my life now and I still learn new things everyday with every new tattoo I create.Good luck brotha and I hope to see your work soon!
