    Default TUTORIAL: Applying Chrome Paint

Since this was requested by several people and I was in the middle of "chroming" I said... why not! Now, please note that this is my technique and ONLY my technique. I am sure there are many others and I would defer any expertise I pretend to have to encline, F-R etc..... I will be setting up a XML slide show on my website for future views. This will be a procustomizers excluisve for a few days!!

    Away we go....

Now, to find something to chrome!

Z, do you have issues with those rattle cans spattering at all? I know the Krylon can leave a slightly rough texture on the surface. Of course, that's the flat black. I usually keep the can I'm using in a bowl of very warm, almost hot, water when I'm not spraying.

Thanks for the tutorial; although I'm actually excited about that primer. It's available here and I will have to give it a go now (the Rustoleum Plastic Primer I've seen so far only comes in white). It's good to know the Rustoleum Direct to Plastic isn't just good enough for garden furniture

Nice tut. So let me make sure I've got it straight for when I try.The undusted portion of the part is where you just sprayed it on regularly without brief intervals? And the dusted portion is what you described? The results look amazing!

Sounds about right. I used these steps as well, and had best results at 15 psi with the Alclad.

No. The undusted portion is just that, undusted. Both side are the same thing.... when you follow this step by step your final outcome will look like the undusted section. Then you take a soft cloth and wipe it down to get the polished look.

No problem.... my suggestion, try this on a plastic spoon before on a figure.

Great stuff Z! Alclad can also be painted on for a less polished raw steel look, same steps up to chroming.

After handeling the chromed parts, the chrome loses it's shine. What can I do?
